Heart Paper Flower Craft

As a parent of a kindergarten, preschool or daycare child, you often have opportunities to express your gratitude to their teachers for their love and care in the school.

This could be more formal in the form of teacher appreciation days or casual when you feel like it. Teachers work very hard to take care of our children and they deserve our unreserved appreciation.

Last week was bring a flower day at our daughter's preschool, this mother-daughter duo decided to make this very lovely heart flower paper craft. We loved how easy and elegant these ended-up looking.

They were easy and quick to make and after the paper cutting something our daughter could put together on her own. She quite enjoyed putting the paper hearts and pipe cleaners together for the beautiful look. Our daughter took these to school in the morning and gave a flower to each of her teachers with a thank you hug!

Paper Plate Wheel Calendar

I have been thinking of introducing calendar to my toddler for some time. Then I thought, why not do it as a craft activity?

Spent some time thinking about how one could represent the functionality of a calendar via craft and something interesting came from it. Making this craft turned out to be a real fun activity. In the process of crafting this, my toddler got to sort numbers and recognize words.

Most importantly I can now teach her about the relationship between date, day and month in a simple,  playful manner.

Interactive paper plate crafts are my favorite. The Solar Eclipse Craft we made after the total solar eclipse last year is such a great idea for preschooler and kindergarten kids.

HOW TO MAKE CALENDAR CRAFT?

SUPPLIES

• Paper Plate 9" (2) 
• Paper Plate 6" (1) 
• Cardstock Paper (pink, blue, green, black) 
• Pipe Cleaner
• Bead (1) 
• Black Marker
• Scissor
• Glue

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut the edges of one 9" and one 6" inch paper plate to make 6.5" & 4.5" circles. 

2. Cut out the shapes for writing dates, days and months. Alternatively, you can write them directly on the paper plate. 

4. Cut out the shape of an arrow pointer from black cardstock paper.

Father's Day Craft

Children have a special relationship with their father. While mothers are their emotional anchors, fathers are often their exploration anchors. Being around a father mostly means playtime or crazy fun activity time. All because fathers enjoy nothing else more than seeing a smile on their children's face.

So, this fathers day, we decided to craft one father-child activity special - the high toss. This is one of the most enduring moments for dads and tots. It was fun creating this craft and brought up happy memories for when our toddler was under 2 years and enjoyed soaring through the air only to land in the safe comfort of dad's arms.

Cardboard Egg Easter Crafts

Have fun-at-home with these cute Easter crafts!

Do you know that these crafts are made of cardboard eggs? Aren’t cardboard eggs a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic eggs? I found these cardboard eggs at Oriental Trading.

They are very similar to plastic ones, you can open the eggs and fill them with goodies for kids. Best part is kids can color the eggs, decorate them and have fun finding them in Easter egg hunt for special surprises.

Holi Bonfire Card

Holi is a popular festival in India. It celebrates the end of the winter season and the arrival of spring.

Holika Dahan (Bonfire) is an important ritual associated with the Holi festival. Holika Dahan or the lighting of the bonfire takes place on the eve of Holi. People gather and perform religious rituals in front of the bonfire.

According to Hindu mythology, Holi celebrates the killing of Holika (sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu) by god Vishnu in order to save his devotee Prahlad. And, Holi gets its name from Holika.

To educate my daughter about this ritual, we made this cute bonfire craft for kids.

Paper Plate Frog With Moving Tongue

Did you know there are over 5000 species of frogs? Or some frogs can jump 20 times their size or that some species like poison dart frogs are poisonous?

Frogs are fascinating animals for everyone but especially for children. They come in so many colors and have quite a few entertaining characteristics. They hop or jump everywhere. They are amphibious - meaning they can live on the land or in the water. That’s a fun ability!

Have you seen a frog eat? They have super long sticky tongues that they use to catch food such as flies or small insects. It’s quite something to watch them go about getting their belly full with just the tongue.

This movement is so fast often the prey doesn't have a chance to escape. A frog's tongue can snap back into its mouth within 15/100ths of a second.

After our popular Chomp Chomp Bunny Craft, we found that frog meal time actually makes for a fun craft activity for preschool children at school, art classes or home.

All you need is a paper plate and basic craft supplies and you are all set to make your very own “Eat Eat Frog Toy”. Have fun and learn too.

Grandparents' unconditional love and affection is the reason why children have a special bond with them.

It was that time of the year again when my daughter was eager to surprise her grandparents on their wedding anniversary. If you missed it, she made this Tree of Love for their anniversary two years ago.

Cardboard Tube Monsters Halloween Craft

Warming up for Halloween with these cute little monsters :)

This Halloween is special. Why? Because my daughter is now two years old and this is the first Halloween where she can actually understand and participate in all the Halloween hoopla!

Now, she is too young for the seriously spooky things so I decided to introduce Halloween to her with these cute little cardboard tube craft monsters!

She knows that humans have two eyes, no horns, and regular teeth. So, seeing these outliers (one or three eyes, horns, saw-shaped teeth), she immediately gathered she was looking at some weird creatures that we happen to call monsters.

But, since they look funny and harmless she had a great time making this craft and then playing with these little new friends of her.
