For a great pumpkin challenge at our daughter's school, we converted the pumpkin to our daugter's favorite book character - Pigeon from Mo. Willems book. She absolutely loved making her favorite pigeon.

Pumpkin Emotions Halloween Craft for Kids
Nothing is more synonymous with Halloween than the super expressive pumpkins. With their cut-out eyes, nose and mouth, they convey the fun yet scary emotions understandable by even the youngest children.
We thought it would be educational to focus on how small shape variations in eyes and mouth can convey emotions as wide as smiling and scary. So, we made this Pumpkin Emotions Craft for Halloween with a twisted personality!

Halloween is around the corner and its time for some spooky fun. Bats are right there as one of the most popular Halloween paraphernalia and it was a blast creating these super cool bat craft with my toddler.

Magnetic Squirrel and Acorn Fall Craft
Our house has a few large trees close to the balcony deck. The trees are home to a few squirrels and our toddler has come to adore their cute antics. Her favourite is when the squirrel grabs an acorn and nibbles away at it with her teeth and hands. So cute!
In fall, Acorns fall to the ground and squirrels pick them up burying them for use in the winter hibernation season. Often, not all the acorns get consumed leading to the birth of new oak trees in a few months. And, these natural cycles continue.
How To Make Paper Lantern Craft
Fall kicks off the festival season. We got thinking about how to welcome the festivals and create crafts to celebrate them. We thought “what’s common across the two big festivals - Christmas and Diwali”? And, the answer came back “lights”! Interesting isn’t it?
Lights are such a huge part of celebrating major festivals. So, we made the paper lantern craft or paper luminaries using paper, popsicle sticks and some mandala art.
Learning about festivals and celebrating them with your kids is so much fun. These are days that kids look forward and form long-term happy memories around.
Making a craft that can symbolize festivals helps them develop an understanding of customs, culture, and tradition. While, also exercising their creative neurons for visualizing, conceiving and implementing ideas.

Fall brings some of the most contrasting and beautiful images in nature. The different colors that leaves take, the eventual falling and the beautiful mosaics on the ground make fall an artist’s playground.
Equally importantly, fall plays such a huge role in keeping nature healthy by completing the circle of life for plants where the fallen leaves become nurturing food for the tree’s future growth.
Fingerprint Flower Rakhi
Raksha Bandhan is a hindu festival that highlights the bond between siblings. On this day, we tie an ornamental thread onto our sibling's wrist as a symbol of love, care, and gratitude.

This ornamental thread is called a rakhi.
Rakhis can be bought from stores but making them is a fun activity that makes the rakhi more meaningful. In this post, we will show you how to make a simple fingerprint flower rakhi.
This can be a simple school activity to learn about Raksha Bandhan or a fun activity to do at home with little kids and toddlers to celebrate Raksha Bandhan!
How to make Fingerprint Flower Rakhi?
Materials:
Cardstock Paper (any color)
Paint (any color)
Thread/Yarn (any color)
Gem Sticker or Button (any color or design)
Tape or Glue
Beads (optional)
Instructions:
1) Take your Cardstock paper and draw a medium sized circle and put the gem sticker or button in the middle using tape or glue
2) Have your kid gently dip their finger into the paint and dab the paint around the gem to create the effect of fingerprint petals and let it dry.
3) After the flower part of the rakhi has dried, cut around the "petals", leaving a flower-like shape overall
4) Take the thread, cut out a strand (about 20-25cm) and glue/tape the flower we made earlier in the middle the thread
5) Now, if you want, you can slide a few decorative beads to finish off the rakhi
Tada! By completing these 5 simple steps, you have officially made a fingerprint flower rakhi!

Thread Flower DIY Rakhi

On this day, we tie a ornamental thread, called a rakhi to our family members, specifically our sibling's wrists.
You can buy rakhis but making your own rakhis is a more meaningful and creative way to express your gratitude for your siblings and other family.
This is also a fun activity to do as a family! In this post, we are sharing a simple way to make an awesome handmade thread flower rakhi!
How to make DIY flower rakhis at home?
Materials:
Thread (any color)
Beads
Hot Glue Gun (normal glue might also work)
Decorative Lace (optional)
Instructions
1) Take the thread and cut out eighteen 20 cm strands of the thread
2) Separate the strands into three groups with six strands each and tie them together from the top with another piece of thread
3) Take the three groups of thread and braid them together. For this step, it helps to tape the strands on to the edge of a table while braiding
4) After braiding the thread, roll it up tightly to create the flower part of the rakhi. Then, put hot glue on the bottom of the flower and on the end of the braided thread to secure the flower. Glue a bead in the middle and you have finished the flower for you rakhi!
5) After making the flower, we put some decorative leaf lace on the ends to show the leaves on the flower. You can also cut leaves out of paper to put on the thread flower but it is an optional step
6) Now it is time for the base! Cut out two more strands of thread (about 25 cm). This will be the actual string of the rakhi! Glue the flower in the middle of the threads (at about 12.5 cm) and slide in some more beads.
And, voila, you have finished your rakhi!

Rangoli is usually made to decorate the home on festivals like Diwali and other special occasions. It is said that the Goddess of wealth "Lakshmi" visits people's homes during Diwali. To welcome her, people clean their homes, illuminate their houses with diya (lanterns), set-up colorful garlands on doors, and make colorful rangolis.
