DIY Christmas Ornaments For Kids

Are you looking for a fun and easy Christmas activities for preschoolers? Then you're going to love these cute ornaments we made. My 4-year-old daughter was so proud to make these adorable ornaments with me. She couldn't wait to hang them on our Christmas tree.

Yippie, we are all ready for Christmas!


We found a set of DIY unfinished wood ornaments at Oriental Trading and totally loved them. They came in a variety of handy holiday shapes - Santa Claus, Gingerbread Man, Christmas Tree, Star, and Candy Cane.

All you need to make these fantastic ornaments is paint, pom-poms, googly eyes and some basic embellishments of your choice.


This is an easy Christmas activity for preschoolers and toddlers. With some basic craft supplies, kids can decorate the ornaments and take home their lovely handmade Christmas decorations.

Gingerbread man is my daughter's favorite. Isn't he the cutest?


These are perfect if you're hosting an ornament making party for kids. Kids can create their own Christmas ornaments and personalize them as they want. They also make fabulous gifts for loved ones.

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS WITH KIDS


MATERIALS





HOW TO MAKE GINGERBREAD MAN ORNAMENT?

1. Paint the unfinished wood ornament with brown color and let it dry.

2. Make the design on gingerbread man's hands and legs using white paint. Let it dry.

3. Tie a piece of red ribbon (~4.5") around the neck making the scarf. Make small cuts on the edges of the scarf.

4. Glue google eyes and buttons on the gingerbread man.

5. Make a smiley with a black marker.


6. To make the hat, cut out a triangle shape red glitter paper. Glue a rectangular piece of silver glitter paper to make hat's brim. Finally, glue a small white pom-pom on the top to complete the look.


7. Glue the completed hat on the gingerbread man.

Ta-da, here is the Christmas ornament that preschoolers will absolutely love to hang on their Christmas trees.



HOW TO MAKE SANTA CLAUS ORNAMENT?

1. Paint the unfinished wood ornament - Red for the hat, white for the top of the hat and peach for the face. And, let it dry.

2. For hat's brim, cut out a rectangular piece (~2.5") of silver glitter paper and trim to make the edges round. Glue it on the ornament for Santa's hat.

3. Glue a white glitter pom-pom (0.5") on the hat's top.

4. Glue google eyes and make a smiley using a black marker.

5. Make Santa's beard with cotton as shown in the picture.



HOW TO MAKE CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS?

1. Paint the unfinished wood tree ornament with green color and let it dry.

2. Cut out silver and gold color glitter paper stripes. Glue them on the tree making zigzag garlands on the tree.

3. Glue googly eyes and make the tree's smiley using a black marker.

4. For the tree stem, cut out a rectangular piece (~1.5" x 0.5") of gold glitter paper. Glue to the ornament.


5. To make the hat, cut out a triangle shape red glitter paper. Glue a rectangular piece of silver glitter paper to make hat's brim. Finally, glue a small white pom-pom on the top to complete the look.

6. Glue the completed hat on the Christmas tree.
