Rangoli is usually made to decorate the home on festivals like Diwali and other special occasions. It is said that the Goddess of wealth "Lakshmi" visits people's homes during Diwali. To welcome her, people clean their homes, illuminate their houses with diya or lanterns, set-up colorful garlands on doors, and make colorful rangolis.
