The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Finger Puppet Craft

This craft is inspired by one of my toddler's favorite book - "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". It narrates the story of a caterpillar who eats its way through a wide variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a butterfly.

In addition to it's prepossessing visual illustration, this is a great book to teach counting, the days of the week, foods, and a butterfly's life stages to kids.

Books have an enormous influence on kids. I am amazed to see how my tot understands that gigantic feast can make her ill, similar to the way caterpillar had a stomachache after eating too much in the book.

Hands down, this is one of the best book we have on shelf for our tot.

5. We transformed it into a finger puppet for my tot to play with it. To do so, make a 1.5cm hole in the middle two circles of the caterpillar's body such that your kid is able to comfortably put in the fingers.
